The 2027 Planner
The planner for decisions worth thinking through.
What it is
How the practice works
Write down whatever makes you look twice: a number that did not fit, a comment that stayed with you, a person who went unusually quiet. It takes ten seconds.
Give each note one of four colours, so you can see at a glance what deserves your attention.
Look back over your notes on a steady rhythm. Patterns appear, and a view takes shape that you could defend out loud.
Why it helps
The problem is not a lack of information. It is two things. There is so much of it that what matters gets buried. And what matters rarely arrives at a good moment. It turns up while you are busy with something else, and it is gone by the end of the day.
The planner gives it somewhere to go. One page holds several decisions at once, so a strategy question, a partnership and a career move can sit side by side without blurring.
10 sec
to catch a thought and write it down.
10 min
of quiet time for the weekly review.
1 page
holds several decisions at once, without blurring.
It will not ask you to do more. It asks you to lose less of what you already noticed.
Why paper
You can catch a thought with a voice note, or hand it to AI in seconds. It gets captured, sorted and summarised before you have really looked at it. That is the problem.
When you write by hand, you choose the words, and the choosing is where you notice what matters. Each spread shows you the whole week at once, so patterns appear without searching. And paper does not suggest, autocomplete or reply.
When you do want a second opinion, photograph the page and bring it to your AI. The planner shows you how.
Who it is for
Leaders, strategists and founders, and anyone facing:
It slows down the sorting you already do by instinct, so you can see it.
It builds the pattern library you will rely on later.
Routine planning. If your week is mostly meetings and deadlines, an ordinary diary will serve you better.
The illustrations and the reflections woven through the year draw on Japanese thinking about space, seasons and pause.
About the author
“I’ve spent 25 years in strategy and corporate venturing across the US, Europe and Japan, deciding which ideas deserve investment and which deserve a pause.
I made this planner because good judgement doesn’t come from more analysis, especially in the age of AI. It comes from noticing what you are actually paying attention to.”
